Description
Very rarely found in solid 9 carat gold this is the iconic Jaeger LeCoultre Futurematic with a Large 36mm Swiss made case with swept back lugs. The watch is in excellent overall condition, with no blemishes to the case and an original unrestored dial. The recently serviced movement is running strongly and keeping accurate time. All functioning and working perfectly! A new high quality leather strap recently fitted making this timepiece ready to wear.
This watch is signed in three places, on the dial, the case, and movement.
The Case
9 carat solid gold, in excellent condition, measuring approximately 36mm in diameter. Inside the case back is properly hallmarked “9K 0.375″ and signed ” Jaeger-LeCoultre Co” “SWISS”. The watch has obviously been very cared for as there are no dents or scratches to be found on the case with the naked eye.
The Dial
The original dial is in superb original unrestored condition, in period lemon cream, signed LeCoultre and “Swiss Made”. Applied gold batons and bronze numerals mark the hours with the beautiful original lumed gold ‘dauphine’ hands all in perfect condition. The overall look is one of originality, simplicity and elegance. The lens is clear having recently been replaced.
The Movement
Look, No Crown! The watch is stopped and the time is set by sliding and rotating the wheel located on the rear of the watch. The movement is charged simply and easily by wearing the watch. Footnote,- This is one of the earliest commercially successful automatic watches and one of the most accurate and reliable. These are such sophisticated watch movements it is widely quoted Jaeger-LeCoultre invested so much money in the development and manufacture of the Futurematic, it actually lost money of every piece it sold!
This is the all original high quality 17 jewelled, automatic Cal 817 bumper movement is signed LeCoultre Co and ‘SWISS’. It has been recently serviced and is running strongly and keeping accurate time. The ‘porthole’ functions are working correctly indicating the power reserve on the left and movement operation on the right.
The Strap
High quality black croc grain padded leather strap.
Box and Papers: Although there are no original papers with this watch, a detailed written receipt, and a separate insurance valuation for the replacement value will be provided at the time of sale. The numbers on this watch match and date this watch to 1954 and will be quoted on your receipt for your security. The watch will be provided with a new high quality presentation box as shown in the photographs. The watch is sold on 14 days no quibble sale or return and with 12 months warranty.*
