About this watch
Very rare in 18K pink gold this 1953 Rolex Oyster Perpetual is in mint condition and is simply amazing. The watch is in totally original condition and after a thorough inspection and servicing we can confirm this watch has never ever been touched save for regular Rolex servicing.
The Case
The fully hallmarked 18K pink gold case is totally unworn with no scratches or dings. The edges of the case are crisp which demonstrates the case has never been professionally polished. The original 18K pink gold bezel is sharp. The case back is clean and unmarked having never been engraved. Inside the case back there are two hallmarks along with 0750 18K MONTRES ROLEX SA GENEVA PATENTED 1005. The case size is a large 35mm diameter not including the original Rolex Oyster Crown.
The Dial and Crystal
The silver white dial is totally original and has never been restored or refinished. It is in excellent condition considering its age. Please bear in mind the photographs of the dial are considerably magnified but even so they show only the faintest signs of ageing. The dial could be restored to make it look brand new but we feel this is unnecessary as it would spoil the character and beauty of the watch. The exquisite 18K rose gold dauphine hands are complimented with a gold centre second hand and gold arrowhead hour markers, all in mint condition. The crystal lens is original and clear and unmarked.
The Movement
This is the high grade Chronometer Standard 1560 calibre movement. As can be seen from the photographs the movement is in very clean condition and looks untouched except for professional servicing. It is marked with the movement number 1560, serial number 856600, SWISS ROLEX SA GENEVA and the Rolex Crown is engraved on the rotor. The self winding movement has just been serviced and it running perfectly. It winds, sets and runs very nicely. It has been time checked and is running accurately and it is now ready for many more years of reliable use. It winds perfectly, both automatically and manually, exactly as it should and is keeping accurate time. It carries a twelve months guarantee. The model number is 1005, the movement is calibre 1506 serial number is 856600, All numbers correct for this watch manufactured 1953.
The Strap and Buckle
The strap is red lizard skin, (£300 to replace), and compliments the rose gold very nicely. It is not new but as you see, it is in great condition. The buckle is original Rolex 18K yellow gold! The buckle alone own costs £300 to replace!!

In Summary – This is a very special watch.
A new equivalent Rolex 18K dress watch would retail in excess of £16,000 today. Further, a 1950s rose gold Rolex, similar to this, if one could be found, would be on sale for £9,000 to £12,000 in Bond Street or the Burlington Arcade in Central London.
This would make a wonderful special anniversary gift, or a great investment or heirloom piece.
Please note it is very difficult to capture the full beauty of a vintage watch in a series of photographs. Needless to say, this is a very special Rolex which looks even more satisfying to wear.
