Ulysse Nardin 14K Automatic 1954

Swiss Watch Manufacturer Ulysse Nardin was founded in 1846. Among the most reliable ever made, Ulysse Nardin’s marine chronometers are still sought by collectors around the world.

This is a very impressive Ulysse Nardin dress watch from 1954, in 14K solid yellow gold and in wonderful condition. Everything about this watch oozes quality both inside and out. It benefits from a high grade automatic 17 jewel movement running at 18,000 bph with a sweep centre second hand and 44 hour power reserve – quoted when new.

The highly distinctive and attractive yellow gold case with fancy lugs compliments a bright silvered dial with applied gold numbers and hour indicies and very special gold “Alpha” hands. The dial, hands and numbers are all in mint condition.

The dial suggests that it may have received some restoration at some point, but if so it has been done to the very highest standards. The watch glass is as clear as new with no scratches.

The case is in near perfect condition showing little signs of wear and no scratches. This suggests the watch has received very little use probably only being used on special occasions. Please note there is one very small impression on the outer edge of the bezel between 12 and 1 o’clock, but this is hard to spot especially when the watch is being worn as it is furthest from the eye.

Removal of the screw back case shows watch movement to be in absolutely stunning condition, all being original and correct for the watch. It is signed correctly, and with the movement number and 17 Jewels. The watch is therefore triple signed on the case, movement and dial.

The movement has been checked and serviced by our trusty watchmaker and is in tip-top condition and operating perfectly. There is nothing to suggest that this watch will not continue to run nicely for another 50 or 60 years.

And so this is a very stylish watch offered in almost mint condition from one of the top names in Swiss watch making. Its condition along with its timeless appeal, means that this Ulysse Nardin would pass for a new watch even when viewed close up.

This watch is offered at below market value and given current and historic trends will make an excellent long-term investment or heirloom piece.

Please note the nearest equivalent new Ulysse Nardin dress watch would cost around £5,000 today. However this watch benefits from a possibly higher grade movement and which is as good as new. From an investment point of view there is little doubt as to which will be best.
