About this watch

A rare and substantial 18 karat yellow gold Jaeger-LeCoultre 1957 automatic with a large 35mm screw-back case in superb condition.

The Dial

A stunning French white dial with classic cross hairs and date at 3 o’clock and subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The dial is in excellent original condition and has had some careful retouching. The dial could be fully restored but this is not necessary in its current superb condition. The dial is signed, with “Jaeger LeCoultre, Automatic, Swiss Made” The dial specification is complete with the rarer specification alternating black on white and white on black date wheel.

The Case

The substantial 18K yellow gold 35mm diameter case is in superb condition. This is a three part screw back construction case with no scratches, dings or wear marks visible to the naked eye. This particular JLC has obviously been very well cared for and has received no heavy or long-term regular use. The case is noticeably heavy and bears external and internal 18K hallmarks along with the case number A700732.

The Movement

As can be seen the high grade movement is in superb original condition. The movement used in this watch is the high grade calibre P813, introduced in 1956 which is a superb seventeen jewel example of a classic bumper automatic. The movement is signed Jaeger LeCoultre, Fab Suisse, Swiss” with the calibre # P813 stamped alongside the balance wheel. The individual serial number 1296008 is here which, falling between the two extremes of Jaeger LeCoultre production means it was manufactured in mid 1957.

The Strap and Buckle

A new high quality 18mm padded croc leather strap has been fitted. The matching gold plated buckle is not original.

Box and Papers

An vintage JLC box is provided with the watch although this is not thought to be the original box. There are no original papers however the watch will be supplied with a written receipt and 12 months warranty. A separate written valuation for insurance purposes will also be included.
In Summary.

Given the specification, size and condition of this watch this is obviously a rare piece from one of the worlds very finest watch makers. For us it has it all, JLC, 18K, auto, mid-50’s charm, large diameter white dial, date and seconds, all in superb original condition!

This watch has been serviced and tested and is running strongly and accurately. It is offered with 7 days approval, or 14 days for overseas customers. It also comes with 12 months warranty and free delivery within UK.
