About this watch

Description

Founded in 1833, Jaeger Le Coultre have long been acknowledged as one of the premier Swiss watchmakers both in terms of their ultra high quality movements and their effortlessly elegant design. This solid 9ct Gold Jaeger ‘Powermatic’ wristwatch embodies both these ideals.

The solid gold case is in excellent condition with the most minor signs of wear only visible under high magnification. The high grade ‘Fab Suisse’ Jaeger signed automatic ‘Bumper’ movement has just been serviced and is running beautifully. The original Jaeger ivory/white dial has been professionally refinished to the highest possible standard and is simply breathtaking. The finely applied gilt spear head hour batons and deliciously elegant gilt hands provide the most subtle contrast against the dial and blend perfectly with the case. To complete this watch we have added a new, high quality dark brown crocodile skin strap with gold plated buckle.

The Case

The crisp, carefully polished solid 9ct gold case is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. The elegantly slim tear drop lugs and perfectly proportioned gleaming case creates the impression of a larger face. The case measures 33mm wide, excluding the winding crown and 39mm, including the lugs. The inside caseback carries the case reference of ‘DTE’ – DTE are a Dennison company who made cases for most of the major Swiss brands including Rolex, Omega and Breitling. It also has the appropriate hallmarks for 9ct gold.

The Movement

Jaeger movements are recognised as one of the highest quality in watchmaking and were used by Patek Phillipe. This jewelled automatic ‘Bumper’ movement has just been fully serviced by our professional watchmaker and is running beautifully. It is signed ‘Fab Suisse’, ‘Jaeger Le Coultre’, ‘Automatic’ and ‘Swiss’.

The Dial

The dial is what distinguishes this watch above all others we have seen. The simply delightful Arabesque gold numerals and delicate gold hands and beautifully restored simple ivory/white dial are all just deliciously elegant. The arrow head hour batons, matching gold hands provide the subtlest contrast to the dial and blend perfectly with the case. The slim case gives the impression of a larger dial. It has the red power meter and is signed ‘Jaeger Le Coultre’, ‘Automatic Fabrique En Suisse’ and ‘Swiss’.

The Strap

As mentioned, this watch sits on a new, high quality dark brown ‘croc’ leather strap with a gold plated buckle.

In Conclusion

This is a beautiful example of a watch from one of horology’s most famous names and will, if history is any judge, provide an excellent long term investment or heirloom as well as a possession to treasure and enjoy.

The asking price is well below the market value of this watch in this condition and of this rarity. Particularly with the constant rise in value of vintage JLC watches of this high quality.

In view of the high grade Swiss movement, we will include a twelve month written guarantee on the movement. We also offer a full refund if you are not entirely happy, as long as the watch is returned within 7 days of receiving the watch or 14 days if overseas.

The watch will be supplied in the high quality hardwood presentation case as shown.

I will provide an insurance valuation in excess of my asking price.
