About this watch

Omega

OMEGA’s pioneering spirit has taken its watches to the Moon, helped conquer the oceans’ depths and allowed us to time the world’s most important sporting events. At the same time, Omega has set precision records and has continuously re-defined state of the art watchmaking since 1848.

This watch benefits from the same exacting standards of precision and design applied to all Omega watches, meaning one can expect and rely on the same accuracy and dependability we have come to expect across the Omega range. Its movement and 9ct gold case have been restored to close to original condition and the original, unrestored dial, is superb.

This watch could not be more complete since it comes with: 1) its original 9ct yellow gold buckle, 2) its original presentation box,  3) all its original sale documents.

The Dial

The beautiful original silver-white dial carries the traditional Omega styling cues. Gilt baton hour indices, matched by the original black ‘Index’ hands, with black onyx inlaid batons at 12, 3, 6, and 9. The dial carries the Omega brand and signature brand and ‘Swiss Made’ below the ‘6’.

This is the original dial which we feel is in much too good a condition to restore, so we have left it untouched to retain its originality.

The Case

The sturdy 9ct solid gold case measures just 14mm in diameter, excluding the Omega signed crown. This makes this quite a small watch. However, the case is very robust meaning the watch, while ‘ladies cocktail watch size’, is still suitable for everyday use.

Inside the case-back, all the markings are correct and as we would expect with The Omega Watch Co. triangle, along with 9ct London UK hallmarks which date this watch to 1966. The case-back carries the Omega model reference number 5115001.

**Please note – the sale documents date the sale of this watch to 1967.

The case has been cleaned, carefully inspected and carefully hand-polished, which was all that was required to bring it back to its current tip-top condition with no scratches dings or marks of any kind visible to the naked eye.

As always, our standard advice applies: Vintage watches should be kept clean and dry at all times.

The Movement

The high grade Omega Calibre 620 hand-wound, copper-plated beryllium-bronze movement is in absolute tip-top sparkling condition.

The movement has been fully overhauled by our vintage Omega specialist watchmaker. This means disassembling the watch movement down to all its component parts, careful inspection under high magnification, replacement where necessary with only genuine Omega parts, then careful reassembly and adjustment before final calibration and testing. This watch winds, sets and runs perfectly accurately and reliably within +14 seconds per day, averaged over 5 positions and this has been checked and confirmed on our electronic watch timegrapher. Please bear in mind, this performance is outstanding for any watch, particularly of this age. The movement also has a 42-hour power reserve when fully wound. We are therefore highly confident in offering 12 months’ warranty with this watch movement*.

The movement is signed Omega Watch Co Swiss, 17 Jewels, and Cal.620 with the serial number 23215429, which dates the watch to 1966.  **Please note, the movement and case markings show this watch was produced in 1966. However, as its sales receipt and guarantee are dated 1967, this watch could quite rightfully be referred to as a 1966 or 1967 watch.

*Please note – our 12 months’ warranty is only applicable if the list price is paid.

The Strap and Buckle

The watch is fitted with a high quality Brown leather strap and the original 9ct gold Omega buckle. However, if you have a preference for another colour or style of strap, please do let us know and we will do our best to supply and fit your preferred strap for no extra charge. This watch also comes with its correct original 9ct yellow gold hallmarked Omega buckle.

The Box and Papers

This watch comes complete with its original jewellers’ purchase receipt and original, signed and dated Omega Guarantee. Please note, as mentioned above, even though the movement and case markings show this watch was produced in 1966, its sales receipt and guarantee are dated 1967, meaning this watch could quite rightfully be referred to as a 1966 or 1967 watch.

Our detailed written receipt with 12 months’ warranty and a separate insurance valuation for the replacement value of this watch will be provided at the time of sale, along with our unique ‘Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee’ which states: “If at any time, this watch proves to be anything less than totally authentic, or not as described, Vintage Gold Watches of London will offer you a full refund at any time”.

This watch also comes with its original vintage Omega presentation box, as shown in the photographs, included in the sale.

In Conclusion

If you are seeking a classic 1960s Ladies Omega with a very fine quality movement, this watch is very hard to beat. It comes complete with its original 9ct yellow gold buckle, its original presentation box and all its original sales documents and so could not be more complete.

In addition to being perfectly practical for everyday use, this watch will make an excellent investment and heirloom piece, as well as be something wonderful to wear, treasure and enjoy! Even though vintage gold Omega watch prices continue to climb, we still feel sure that top class examples are underpriced. This is because as time passes and the world market for vintage gold Omega watches continues to grow, the finite supply means prices will inevitably climb ever higher. We promise you will be so pleased you bought this watch!

A word about our prices – We always try our hardest to acquire the very highest quality watches we can find, before restoring these to the highest possible standards. We then offer these at the fairest prices we can, taking into account our pre and post sales care and service. This approach inevitably means we will never be the cheapest, but nor will we be the most expensive. Indeed there are a number of well-known stores in West London which are very successful, charging between two to three times the price you see here. We therefore consider our prices to be fair, given the quality of watches we have to offer.

We are happy to accept PayPal as this is the quickest method of payment. However, if you would like to pay by bank transfer, we will be pleased to pass on a 3% transaction saving to you. Similarly, if you wish to pay by International SWIFT or International Bank Wire Transfer, we will provide you with our BIC / Swift number and our IBAN number.

Please note, we welcome part exchanges and if you have a watch or small collection for sale, please contact us as we will be happy to discuss this.
