This Website, Company and Ownership: This website and online store is owned and operated by Vintage Gold Watches London Ltd. This business operates as a partnership, based at The Pavilion, 96 Kensington High Street, London, W8 4SG, U.K. For further information, please contact us via our email address as follows: [email protected]
Viewing and trying on a watch: We try our hardest to make our delivery service and 14-day sale or returns policy as quick, slick and simple as possible, making this the quickest way to view, try and test any of our watches. However, if you would prefer to pay us a visit, this may be arranged by appointment. Please keep in mind, our business is internet-based, and so we do not operate from a store or showroom. This is predominantly because we prefer to keep our overheads low in order to offer you the highest quality vintage gold watches at the most competitive prices we can whilst keeping firmly in mind our commitment to the highest possible pre and post-sales service and care.
Security and safety for all our staff and customers also remain our highest priority. For this reason, once fully restored and made ready for sale, our watches are placed in sealed containers at our safety deposit facility at our bank in West London.
Payment via Credit or Debit Card: Payment by credit or debit card is of course, most welcome. You will benefit from the additional security of having your credit card company working on your behalf should something go wrong with a transaction or purchase. In addition to being secure, this also has the advantage of being simple, fast and convenient. Please note, we do not record or store your credit card details.
Payment via UK Bank Transfer: We encourage our UK based customers to pay by UK bank transfer if they wish to take advantage of the available 3% saving in transaction charges. This is now our most popular method of payment for our UK customers. It is particularly easy for those who use telephone or internet banking. Simply use our bank details which we will provide to you via email or text and then provide these to your bank by telephone or internet banking, or even face to face at your branch with the purchase price and a reference. This reference is the ‘VGW’ reference number next to the price on each website listing. Your bank will usually complete the transfer within seconds, although sometimes, on rare occasions, this can take up to 2 hours. By paying via this method we can reduce the price by 3% for you. For example, on a £5,000 watch, this will provide you with a saving of £150.00.
Payment via International Bank Transfer: In North America and elsewhere this is also known as a ‘Bank Wire Transfer’. This is a similar process to a bank transfer within your own country, except your bank will request our International IBAN Number and our BIC /Swift Number. By paying via this method we can still pass on the saving in transaction charges of 3% to you. However, your bank will make a charge for this, typically around the equivalent of $30 USD.
Transferwise: For those paying from overseas and wishing to save on bank charges for international transfers, we encourage you to use Transferwise, particularly if you are buying from us regularly. Transferwise is very cost-effective and simple to use and can be found here.
Sale or Returns Policy: We offer a ‘No Quibble Sale or Return’ policy for all online sales. This means, in line with U.K. and E.U. ‘Distance Selling Regulations’, you may order and pay for any item listed on this website and keep it for up to 14 days before returning it safely to us should you decide you would prefer not to keep it. Vintage Gold Watches London Ltd will then issue a refund usually within 7 days of final assessment. The watch or accessory will be checked for signs of damage or wear. If the item cannot be immediately re-listed on our website in the condition it is returned, we reserve the right to make an appropriate deduction from the refund. Please note, if you wish to return an item, we advise you to request a returns authority reference number. You will also need the details of our Secure Returns Delivery Address.
If an item is bought personally from us during a visit, UK and EU Distance Selling Regulations and our ‘No Quibble Sale or Returns’ policy will not apply, unless specifically agreed and stated on your sales receipt.
Vintage Gold Watches 12 Month Warranty: We offer a 12-month warranty on the movement of each and every watch we sell. Our warranty states “if the watch movement becomes defective, or any less accurate than ±30 seconds per day, we will undertake to repair the watch in our workshops free of charge”. The watch must not have been dropped, damaged or abused in any way and must not have come into contact with water. The watch must be returned to our offices packaged very safely and by secure means, insured and signed for upon delivery. If you wish to return a watch please contact us to request a returns authority reference number and details of our Secure Returns Delivery Address.
Please note – If any discount is requested and applied, no warranty will be included unless specifically detailed on the sales receipt.
Vintage Gold Watches Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee: This is applied to each and every watch we sell and states: “If a watch proves to be anything less than 100% genuine, authentic and original, Vintage Gold Watches, London, will offer you a full refund, at any time.” This is our commitment to you because if we make a mistake, we would prefer to be the first to know and be offered the opportunity to make it right with you. Please note, in over 10 years and after thousands of sales, we have only ever had one minor occurrence and claim – which was very quickly and easily resolved.
Vintage Gold Watches is fortunate to have the services of 4 highly experienced watchmakers, each of which has specialist skills and experience in repairing, servicing and restoring vintage watches of each of the 10 brands in which we specialise. Many years of experience enables each of these watchmakers to produce incredible work; restoring each watch takes an average of 3 months. While restoring the movement, the watchmaker will also liaise and coordinate with our watch dial restorers and our watch-case-makers. Each of which provides us with the highest quality work and each is popularly regarded as among the very best in the UK.
Our watchmakers naturally check the authenticity of every watch presented for sale on this website. They also only use original manufacturer’s spare parts.
When you buy a watch from Vintage Gold Watches, you can buy with 100% total confidence that it is of the highest quality and we will stand behind every watch we sell.
Delivery Policy: Delivery to any UK destination is free of charge and Vintage Gold Watches aims to despatch each order within three working days of the receipt of your cleared payment.
All UK deliveries are made using Royal Mail ‘Special Delivery’ Next Day service. Each package travels through a secure Royal Mail network which is separate from the regular post. The progress of each package is monitored at every stage via a barcode tracking system. Accordingly, Royal Mail guarantees that your delivery will arrive between 9 am and 1 pm on the next working day. This is a highly reliable service and in the past 10 years neither the Royal Mail or ourselves have ever lost a watch!
A ‘Get It Fast’ service is also offered whereby your order will be delivered within the UK at or before 9 am the next day. The cut off for this service is 2pm the previous day, 7 days per week. This does require an order to be received before 2pm along with cleared payment. An extra charge of £25.00 will apply for this service.
Our normal service is to pass your consignment to the Royal Mail within one business day of receiving the order in time for next day delivery by 1:00 pm. Note – this includes a final visual inspection and test of the watch and final calibration if necessary. If we are not 100% happy with the watch at this point, we would rather inform you and introduce a short delay while we attend to the problem, rather than deliver a watch we are not 100% proud to send.
All international deliveries are made by FedEx as we have found this to be the most reliable and secure service available. FedEx worldwide delivery is 5 days maximum, but often much quicker, typically one to two days to Europe, USA and Canada. While this is fast and secure, it is also one of the more expensive services available which typically costs (including full tracking and insurance) around £90 for each International delivery. Vintage Gold Watches subsidises this cost by charging our customers a maximum of £45 per delivery.
Vintage Gold Watches reserves the right to decline delivery to certain countries as advised by FedEx when these present high risks through loss or fraud. From time to time Vintage Gold Watches may elect to use another courier for some destinations. International delivery is generally completed within 5 working days of order and cleared payment.
All our deliveries are fully insured independently for loss or damage.
All delivery times and dates are estimations.
Please note – for deliveries outside of Europe, Vintage Gold Watches of London, are not responsible for import duty which may be charged by local customs at the point of entry to your country. However, as all the watches we sell are vintage, typically 50-60 years old, these charges are not as high as they would be if you were buying a new or nearly new watch. Please ask us for help and advice in advance of your purchase and we will do our best to help and advise you on this.
Your delivery must be signed for by an adult (defined as a person aged 18 or over) who lives at your address. It is your responsibility to ensure that your package is intact before signing for it, as once signed for, responsibility for the package is transferred to you the customer, and all liability for loss, damage or theft is transferred from Vintage Gold Watches and our delivery service over to you. Any parcel which has been damaged or tampered with should not be signed for and delivery must be refused.
Return Postage: Unless a watch is found to be faulty or not as described immediately upon arrival, our customer will be responsible for all return postage costs and adequate insurance costs unless this is agreed in writing by a Vintage Gold Watches representative.
Collection of a Watch: Watches may be collected by prior appointment from our offices on Kensington High Street, London. Watches will not be available for collection without an appointment. Our watches are kept at our secure safety deposit facility at our bank in West London and our staff have no access to our stock. Weekend appointments can be arranged but they must be confirmed with at least two days notice. We do not want you to have a wasted journey, therefore, please obtain an appointment and wait for confirmation by email.
Fraud Screening: Vintage Gold Watches may carry out its own internal anti-fraud checks and reserves the right to contact you at any time prior to the dispatch of a watch. Therefore, we will request a mobile, a landline and/or business telephone number which may be used to contact you directly; we will also check against publicly available records to confirm details provided by our customers.
Vintage Gold Watches may, at its sole discretion, refuse to process and/or cancel orders if the customer cannot be contacted and/or Vintage Gold Watches reasonably suspects that a transaction may be fraudulent. Vintage Gold Watches further reserves the right to only dispatch items to the customer’s home or business address (on receipt of an email confirming the same, sent from a home or business email address). Vintage Gold Watches will not dispatch to alternative delivery addresses.
